THE PROJECT
Kalimaty is a personalized vocabulary builder for language learners. Instead of using generic dictionaries, users build their own word database across 15+ languages — adding context, images, translations, and notes to each entry.
PROBLEM
Dated visual design: Kalimaty's interface lacked modern visual appeal, leaving a personalized learning tool
Subpar user experience: The overall experience felt clunky, making it harder for learners to manage and review their growing word databases.
No interactive learning: The app couldn't actively engage users or reinforce the vocabulary they were building.
GOAL
The project aims to revamp the Kalimaty app with a more modern and trending visual design, improve the overall user experience, and introduce a quiz feature to make learning more interactive and engaging for users.
APPROACH
We started by grounding the redesign in research — auditing the current Kalimaty app, studying competitors, and analyzing the market to understand what learners actually expect from a modern vocabulary tool. From there, we defined a clear visual direction and built a design system before refining the screens and designed a new quiz feature to turn passive word-saving into active, engaging learning.
