ABOUT PROJECT
Threads - UX Case study
Exploring UX solutions for Threads, we proposed interface and content strategies to increase engagement time and encourage more frequent visits.

THE TASK
01
The problem
Users of Threads show lower engagement than other platforms, which is a concern for its ad-driven model. To increase time spent, we must enhance either Time per Use (keeping users engaged longer per session) or Number of Visits (encouraging frequent returns). Optimizing these factors will improve retention and overall engagement.
02
Project goal
This project aims to increase user engagement time on Threads by enhancing Time per Use and Number of Visits. Through UX/UI improvements, content strategies, and habit-forming features, we seek to create a more engaging experience that drives retention and sustained user interaction.

THE SOLUTIONS
work process
This project involved teamwork between UX and UI designers to create an innovative solution. Our Business and Growth team stayed in constant communication, providing valuable insights throughout the process.

[ 01 ]
research
Threads users were spending less time on the platform than expected, so the research focused on what affects session length, return frequency, and overall engagement.

[ 02 ]
Define
The key challenge was defined around two levers: increasing time per use and increasing number of visits to strengthen retention and long-term platform value.

[ 03 ]
solution
We explored UX, interface, and content strategies that make Threads more engaging to use in the moment while giving users stronger reasons to come back more often.
